What Is Montezuma?

Montezuma Waterfall
Located just 500 meters from the center of Montezuma so it can be visited without having to go by car, you only walk about 15 minutes and you are there. It is an impressive 20-meter waterfall with a lagoon around it that works as a natural pool where adults and children enjoy a dip in the refreshing waters of the Montezuma River, which is what gives life to this waterfall.

Romelia Reserve and Nicolas Wesberg Park

Cabo Blanco Absolute Reserve
Cabo Blanco is a geographical feature located in Costa Rica, at the southern end of the Nicoya Peninsula, on the waters of the Pacific Ocean. It belongs to the district of Cóbano, in the canton and province of Puntarenas. Off the coast of this cape, the island of Cabo Blanco is also located.

Cabuya Island
This island is located in Cabuya, commonly called Isla Cementerio since it works as a cemetery where the people of the town of Cabuya bury their deceased. This Island can be visited at low tide and it is a beautiful experience.
Playa Grande
Playa Grande is the most beautiful beach in the Montezuma area, it is in the eastern part towards the Romelia reserve and there is no access by car so you have to walk. Your journey takes between 20 to 30 minutes from downtown Montezuma. It is the preferred beach for surfers who visit it for its big waves. The route is beautiful, the beach is full of almond and coconut trees.

Another activity in the area is surfing and buggy boarders that take place in Playa Grande and Los Cedros as they present some of the best stretches of coastline for surfing in the country.
For those looking for more extreme sports such as ATVs, they are available for rent throughout the Nicoya Peninsula. Most of the roads are not paved and those that are paved are few and potholes abound, be careful.
