Located just 500 meters from the center of Montezuma so it can be visited without having to go by car, you only walk about 15 minutes and you are there. It is an impressive 20-meter waterfall with a lagoon around it that works as a natural pool where adults and children enjoy a dip in the refreshing waters of the Montezuma River, which is what gives life to this waterfall.

It is the first meeting that travelers have as a main visit; they cannot leave without visiting this beautiful waterfall. You should bring your bathing suit because you will be hot and there is nothing more refreshing than taking a good dip in fresh water.

Cabo Blanco Absolute Reserve

 
Cabo Blanco is a geographical feature located in Costa Rica, at the southern end of the Nicoya Peninsula, on the waters of the Pacific Ocean. It belongs to the district of Cóbano, in the canton and province of Puntarenas. Off the coast of this cape, the island of Cabo Blanco is also located.

It is perfect if you like to walk. You can take the main trail to the beach and it will take you about two hours through stunning scenery where you can see all kinds of wildlife. You should keep in mind that if you arrive early, more wildlife you will be able to see.

You should bring proper walking shoes; also bring water and a snack if you plan to spend the day.

This island is located in Cabuya, commonly called Isla Cementerio since it works as a cemetery where the people of the town of Cabuya bury their deceased. This Island can be visited at low tide and it is a beautiful experience.

Playa Grande

 
Playa Grande is the most beautiful beach in the Montezuma area, it is in the eastern part towards the Romelia reserve and there is no access by car so you have to walk. Your journey takes between 20 to 30 minutes from downtown Montezuma. It is the preferred beach for surfers who visit it for its big waves. The route is beautiful, the beach is full of almond and coconut trees.

Another option to choose is to take the day tour and visit the beautiful and impressive Tortuga Island, which is an hour away by boat from Montezuma. The trip is made in a fast boat that runs along the entire coast of Montezuma to the island, the boat tour is great, you can see the entire coast and see Playa Grande, Playa Cocalito, the Romelia Reserve and the Nicolas Wesberg Park, Cocalito Reserve, the little tree, drum bay, the rainbow stone and finally you will arrive at the beautiful island. If you want to spend a quieter time and you like animals you can take the Horseback Tour to Chorro Waterfal, it is a 3 and a half hour tour, the tour includes Grande beach, Cocalito beach and reserve, Nicolas Wesberg park, Romelia Reserve with impressive views of the ocean throughout the journey until you reach the waterfall where you will take a refreshing shower and then return to Montezuma.

The area has many mountain and coastal trails that are ideal for those who enjoy biking.

Another activity in the area is surfing and buggy boarders that take place in Playa Grande and Los Cedros as they present some of the best stretches of coastline for surfing in the country.

For those looking for more extreme sports such as ATVs, they are available for rent throughout the Nicoya Peninsula. Most of the roads are not paved and those that are paved are few and potholes abound, be careful.

The key to traveling in this zone is patience so just slow down, relax and enjoy the surroundings while driving whatever vehicle of your choice.
